Snakegourd(chopped into small pieces) - 1 cup
Toordal (cooked & mashed) - 1/4 cup
Coconut(grated) - 4 tbsp
Dry Red chilli - 1-2
Cumin/Jeera - 1 tsp
Salt- To taste
Tumeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaf - 1 sprig
Oil - 1 tsp

Grind coconut,redchillies, and cumin into a fine paste. Keep aside.
Cook snakegourd pieces with salt and tumeric powder.
When cooked, add cooked toordal and coconut paste.
Boil until the curry thickens.
Heat oil in a pan, add curry leaf,urad dal,mustard seeds and season.
Add seasoning to kootu and serve hot with rice.
