Horsegram - 1 cup
Salt - To taste
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coconut (grated) - 1/2 cup

Soak horsegram in water overnight. Next day wash throughly and pressure cook for 7-8 whistles. It takes longer time to cook than other dal or beans.
Transfer the cooked horsegram to a pan and mash roughly.
Add salt and red chilli powder to horsegram and boil until half of the water evaporates.
Grind coconut with little water to smooth paste. Add it to horsegram and boil until required consistency reaches.
Serve hot with rice and mango chamandi.
